Our Mission

The Kids and Planet Project is dedicated to the collection and conversion of plastic waste into functional, durable backpacks for displaced children around the globe. By transforming 150,000 plastic bottles into backpacks for 5,000 displaced children, we aim to inspire and empower individuals, communities, and organizations to prioritize environmental stewardship and social responsibility, ultimately cultivating a global culture of sustainability and compassion.

KidsandPlanet.com is a nonprofit initiative of Oceanbags.

  • The Kids and Planet Project aims to provide 5,000 backpacks made from ocean-bound plastics to disadvantaged and displaced children worldwide.

  • Each backpack equates to roughly 30 plastic water bottles. By transforming plastic waste into functional backpacks for displaced children, the Kids and Planet Project aims to inspire environmental stewardship by giving plastic waste value and keeping 150,000 bottles out of oceans. It also promotes social responsibility by providing aid to vulnerable children.

  • The Ocean Bound Plastic is collected from land-based sources before it can reach and pollute the oceans. It is collected by the Plastics For Change India Foundation, which works to empower waste collectors and develop India's recycling economy.

  • The certification adds value and provides incentives for properly collecting and managing plastic waste at risk of entering oceans, known as Ocean-Bound Plastic. Proper collection and treatment are certified.

  • The Plastics For Change India Foundation collects plastic bottles. They aim to empower and dignify waste collectors while developing India's recycling economy.

  • Alliance Fibres Limited uses the latest recycling technology to convert post-consumer PET bottles into recycled Polyester Staple Fibres, which are then used to make backpacks, avoiding environmental waste.

  • Mon Exports holds certifications like SEDEX 4 Pillar, SA 8000, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, and Ocean Bound Plastic certification, showing its commitment to sustainability and ethical manufacturing.

  • Oceanbags partners with local nonprofits that are already providing aid to disadvantaged children facing challenges like homelessness and foster care. These groups, our Partners for Good, distribute the backpacks.

  • 100% of donations to the TKAPP go towards the production and distribution of backpacks for kids in crisis. Administrative and other costs are funded by selling ecological products on Oceanbags.com and as branded ethical swag for organizations.

  • Oceanbags Foundation supports the nonprofit community in many ways. Its sponsorship of the Prameya Foundation is worth noting, a shining example of caring for kids and the planet.

  • Prameya Foundation works on environmental conservation, building schools, establishing eco-villages, and advocating for indigenous communities vulnerable to climate change.

  • For every bag we donate, we plant a mangrove tree through Prameya. Mangroves are crucial for coastal protection, and their conservation is essential for the environment and local communities.

We also took the initiative to build a school annex. Education is the key to sustainable development, and through this annex, we aim to provide accessible education for the Prameya community, empowering them towards a better future.
